The company I currently work for was awarded part of the new Melbourne Soccer Stadium.
As part of this contract we were to supply the shop details for the four main light towers.
Whilst not directly working on this project in the main, it was my responsibility as lead draftsman to ensure the Tekla Structures team on this project carried out the work in a timely and accurate manner.
The light towers main structure is a tubular truss, with one main radiused spine and two radiused lower booms. This truss is split into many sections for handling and erection.
I was responsible for checking the geometry set-out, guiding the project draftsman on best practice for modelling the complex geometry and splice connections, and I also produced the pipe-wrap data for the cutting of the tube-to-tube connections.
